Course Overview
The ALCs in Morocco offer courses in English as a foreign language at all levels and for virtually all ages. Most centers divide their programs into Adult (15 years of age and up), Junior (11 to 15 years of age) and Children (from 4 to 11 years of age though this varies by center).
Programs are taught in trimesters of 10 weeks with 30 hours of instruction (3 hours per week) per 10 week session for adults and between 20 and 30 hours of instruction (2-3 hours per week) for juniors and children, also depending on local preferences.
The ALC academic year begins in early fall and ends in late spring or early summer. In addition to regular 10-week courses, in the summer most centers offer “Intensive” instruction where the 30 hours of class are taught in 10 to 15 days. Courses are offered in cycles of 6 levels each for Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels. In addition to the general English classes, most centers also offer specialized classes varying from conversational English to Business English, to TOEFL preparation courses.
Centers also host a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities for students, such as film clubs, drama clubs, poetry clubs, and center newspapers with all activities conducted in English. Finally, centers also offer access to their libraries and computer labs and sometimes video libraries to their students.
