History

The first American Language Center (ALC) in Morocco was founded by the United States Information Service (USIS) in the late 1950s in Rabat. During the 1960s, USIS opened the American Bookstores (ABS) in Casablanca and Rabat as well as other ALCs around the country until in the early 1970s there were six Centers: Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Meknes, Rabat and Tangier.

In 1978, USIS dissociated itself from the ACA and the current management structure was put in place.

With the opening of ALCs in Tetuan, Kenitra, Mohammedia and Agadir, the ACA today employs more than 400 people, two-thirds of whom are teachers, and has more than 20,000 students.

Le premier American Language Center (ALC) au Maroc été fondé par The United States Information Service (USIS) vers la fin des années 1950 à Rabat. Durant les années 60, USIS ouvre The American Bookstores (ABS) à Casablanca et Rabat ainsi que d'autres ALC dans tout le pays. Jusqu'au début des années 70 il y avait six centres : Casablanca, Fès, Marrakech, Meknès, Rabat et Tanger.

En 1978, USIS se dissocie de ACA pour laisser place à la structure de gestion actuelle.

Après les ouvertures des ALC de Tétouan, Kénitra, Mohammédia et Agadir, l'ACA compte aujourd'hui plus de 400 personnes dans leur effectif, les deux-tiers étant des professeurs, et plus de 20 000 étudiants.
